‘ve decided, every month of this year (let’s see how I stick to this LOL), that I’m going to do a ‘what have I done this month’ style of post. Kinda like, the ‘what I eat in a day’ posts, but instead, I’ll cover things like, what I’ve done, what I haven’t done, what I’ve bought, what I’m thinking and how I’m feeling. I did as blog post like this last month, so I’m on a good path this year so far.
Plus by doing these combination style of reflection or aspiration posts, it’s my way of allowing my readers into my personal life. I don’t like to share too much of my personal life online, for privacy reasons (and I’ve heard some horror stories out there), but by telling you guys what I’ve been up to, it gives you a little glimpse into my on-the-go personality, yet my simple life. You also get to learn a little bit more about me 🙂
I love sharing my experiences, what I want to do, in order to give you guys a little insight into what I aspire to do, and I like to provide a review of my month, this give you guys some ideas on how to live your life or just to make it more exciting in small different ways. Making my life more fun and adventurous is something I talked about earlier this month.
So here is what I’ve been up to this month so far. It’s only mid-month so I still have a few things on my list below that I’d love to do! What do you guys think? I’d love to hear from you so please leave your comment below. If you have done something exciting, I’d love to hear about it and maybe it can form part of my ‘things I want to do’ for next month.
LaBeaute Quote for Today: Happiness Looks Gorgeous on You
Hair No More
A few months back now, I shared a personal story with you all about my experience with permanent hair removal (Laser/IPL). What happened to me, really upset me. I was left with physical and emotional scars for a long time! But now, looking back, maybe it happened for a reason?! I don’t know what reason that was, but all I know is that I’ve finally moved on emotionally and physically and I am seeing light at the end of the tunnel. The reason why I am saying all of this is because I’ve found a new way to remove my body hair, and I’ve given you a little teaser about it below (because I need an entire blog post to talk about it, which I hope to do, maybe next month!).
I’ve been testing out a few different home hair removal products. I spent quite a bit of money on these. I bought two myself and got one as a gift for Christmas. I will definitely share my results with you ladies because this month, I am finally seeing the hair free results on my legs and underarms that I have been hoping and praying to see for ages now! And all in my own home. Fantastic hey!
My Photography Skills (Or Lack Of!)
Ok, I blogged about this last month, but if you didn’t know, my husband and I booked an impromptu trip away to spice our life up a bit (you know? kick out monotony!). Anyway, I took photos on my phone and although I thought I was doing an amazing job at the time. Now, a month later when I am looking over them, OMG – they are hilariously terrible (does that even make sense?!). Anyway, I think you get what I am saying – the photos of our recent gateway were horrible. Learning how to be a professional photographer and be able to capture really nice photos is something I’ve wanted to do in ages, but haven’t had the time to do (along with the 50 million other things I want to accomplish in life).
Anyway, I want to learn how to take good photos but also how to create and edit my current photos with apps to make them look fantastic. Maybe I need to do a course in photography or just get really serious in learning and practicing what I really need to do. I want to be able to do like what Jennifer does! She is amazing! She shows people how to take and edit photos to look fantastic, all from your phone.
A Furry Friend
It’s my dream to get another pet. What pet? A dog. And what dog? If you read my About Me, you’ll know I’m obsessed with golden retrievers. I used to have one and I want another one. I’ve always had a dog, grown up with a dog and lived with a dog. But since my husband and I have been married, I moved out of my family home and now we live in an apartment which unfortunately, there is no pets allowed. But still?!
Although, I know it’s not possible, it still doesn’t stop me from looking for ads for golden retriever puppies or spending hours on youtube watching puppy videos – ah they are sooo cute. I spent a lot of time this month looking at these cute little furry creatures and I’m in love! It honestly makes me so happy and puts a smile on my face. If you have a pet, you’ll understand what I mean. Anyone with me on this?
Looking After Myself
If you have been following me a while, you’ll already know that I like to constantly like to work on and nurture my inner emotions and feelings. I want to improve on my mood and my outlook on life. And I also want to inspire my readers to do the same. I know that if I am struggling with something in my life, there is probably some other woman out there, that might be feeling the exact same way as me. Sometimes it comes easy for me to work on myself, and other times (around that time of the month), it’s honestly too hard for me to deal with.
I’ve blogged about it many times before on LaBeaute, about inspiring you all to being a better version of yourself, on how to make your life more meaningful and how to build confidence and how to accomplish things you never thought you could do. This blog post, is a simple yet powerful one that this month, has helped me concentrate on a few things that needed my attention this month. So this month, I concentrated on not caring so much what other people think of me (which can be often difficult when you put yourself out there online), and learning to tolerate toxic people or situations in my life. There are two things I really need to work on in my life. Remember – there is always something that you can work on and for me this month, these were the two things that I felt were most important for me to be more positive.

Each week on LaBeaute, I like to share what’s currently on sale, most especially Sephora Beauty Sales. Each week so far, I have just been sharing what Sephora has on sale, but I am hoping to share a lot more in the coming months as I know that if I like to buy beauty products on sale – I am sure you do to! We all like to save money! So this month, I couldn’t help myself and even though I have like a zillion nude eye-shadow palettes already, I bought another one…
Can you guess which one? Oh and I also made another small purchase (a new set of fake eyelashes) which I wore on Valentines Day too 🙂
This month, unfortunately, I haven’t purchased any new clothes. I am waiting for Spring to come so I can start buying what I have my eyes on! And what are these? I’ve shared them in my recent blog post about my Casual Spring Fashion Ideas. Do you like what I like? These are just an example, check out my blog post for the stunning shoes I can’t wait to buy and a few statement pieces that are must haves that everyone needs to buy for Spring!
Showing My Crafty Side
One thing that I probably haven’t shared on this blog before is my love for arts and crafts. I love getting my hands busy by trying to create new projects or doing some DIY around my home. I also always find that when I gift something that I’ve made myself to my family and friends, it’s always received with a lot of appreciation.
I love getting inspiration on the internet, like this candle jar, on how I can re-use and recycle some normal household items and make it into something that I will either display in my own home, or gift to a close friend or family member. I also always like to add a personal touch by using these stickers below, and stick them on the bottom or wrapped on the package to say that it’s handmade with love by Elle 🙂 I think it’s a cute little extra personal touch.
Looking After My New Hair
As you might have read in one of my recent posts, my whole life, literally my whole life, I’ve had long hair. And last month, I cut it so short, and I feel like a new person, literally. Although I look completely different, I feel completely different. Although my hair is newly cut so it feels so nice and healthy (that new haircut feeling is so nice!), I want to make a constant effort to look after my hair with quality hair-care products.
I currently use and swear by this product for my hair, it’s the absolute best, and if you don’t use an argan oil in your hair, you are really missing out. I regularly apply this to my hair, pretty much every time I wash my hair, but in addition to this, just during the winter months, I want to give my hair a little boost each month. And I was thinking, after I color my hair each month, I might try a hot oil hair treatment. I’ll let you know what I think about it in the coming months and if it like it or not. You can read more about hair masks here.
Most Romantic Month of the Year
And I couldn’t include a month in reflection for this month without mentioning the biggest event of this month – Valentine’s Day! Did you have a romantic one? My husband and I have been married for a few years now, so our Valentine’s Day wasn’t over the top. It was nice and romantic and simple. Just the way I like it.
I originally wanted to get a Valentine’s Day post up prior to Valentine’s Day with outfit and makeup ideas, but instead, I decided to spend some quality time with my husband instead. Sorry guys. But I just wanted to mention that for Valentine’s Day, I treated my nieces (15 and 13 years old) to some cute Valentine’s Day makeup and they loved the idea of that. I did some cute heart eyeliner from this tutorial.
One thing I really want to work on for next month, is to see the gym again! Let’s be honest, its wintery and cold and I don’t have any energy whatsoever, to go to the gym. I know, it’s bad, it’s the New Year and it’s the time of the year when I should really have the most motivation to go. But honestly, I don’t. Until next month, I hope that going to the gym more often and eating more healthy forms part of next month reflection post. Until then, fingers crossed 🙂
Remember beauties, life is a puzzle made of different pieces. And the pieces represent different areas of our life, our emotions such as positivity, confidence, persistence, love, work – anything that you think of. And the puzzle is only fully complete when all the pieces can easily fit together. And BALANCE is when all the pieces fit together perfectly! – Elle, LaBeaute
